St. Thérèse arrives in Portsmouth

St Thérèse in Portsmouth

The Right Reverend Crispian Hollis – Bishop of Portsmouth

“This occasion here has been extraordinary; we expected that it would be very special and it’s turning out to be something quite beyond our expectations in terms of numbers and in terms of the sheer devotion. What she is touching is something that perhaps we’ve lost a little bit in the Church today which is that element of proper and appropriate devotion.

“St Thérèse touches ordinary peoples’ lives in an extraordinary way.

“In one way relics aren’t terribly important – it’s what they represent – they represent a life in which God has been absolutely paramount and in which there has been a total response to the call that God has given them no matter what the appearances to the contrary may or may not have been.”
