St. Therese arrives in Wales

St. Therese arrives to Cardiff, originally uploaded by Catholic Church (England and Wales).

Crowds spilled out onto the street in front of the Cardiff Metropolitan Cathedral as the relics of St. Therese arrived to Wales this afternoon.

All three Welsh Bishops were there to greet the relics – Archbishop Peter Smith, Bishop Tom Burns, and Bishop Edwin Regan. Bishop Regan delivered a welcome and reflection in Welsh.

Speaking about evangelisation, one of the themes to be focused on during the Cardiff visit, Canon Peter Gwilym Collins, Cathedral Dean, said: “Two words I place before you for reflection as we venerate these holy relics – audacity and courage. These are features of the faith which are indispensible. They are integral to its true nature. At times we forget it, but now more than ever we need audacity to proclaim the Gospel effectively and to bear witness to the Gospel with integrity. We need the courage to undertake the great task of evangelisation.”
