1,000 cups of tea served and the pilgrims keep coming

, originally uploaded by Catholic Church (England and Wales).

Nora Hunter (84) and Joan Southall (79) started their day at 7.30am this morning and have been on their feet all day serving thirsty pilgrims.

Their day started making a variety of tempting sandwiches offering ham, salad, chicken and salmon, as well as a variety of cakes including scones, lemon gateau and donuts.

Having served over 1,000 cups of tea, when asked if it was worth it they both said a resounding yes. Nora said: ‘It’s an occasion for the diocese and parish.’

Meanwhile the queue of pilgrims is not diminishing and more coaches are arriving.
