Carmelite Monastery Kirk Edge

The small Carmelite community at Kirk Edge sits on the edge of the moors, a seemingly small, off the beaten track venue. But in the 3 and a half hours of St Therese’s relic visit at least 2,000 people filed in and out in a constant steady stream to venerate the relics and offer their intentions as the nuns sang and prayed the Rosary.

In a private welcome for the relics the beautiful soft voices of the nuns sang “where is my beloved? He’s coming” as the hearse pulled up. The community had some time alone with Saint Therese as they prayed for priests, vocations and for all the people who came to venerate.

Rector of the Basilica in Lisieux , Mgr Bernard Lagoutte presented the community with a gift of relics of St Therese’s parents Louis and Zelie Martin.
